Ideas

WHAT'S NEW • HEBE IS OUR LINE-UP Of WHAT'S NEW ON THE BLOCK AND ON THE SHELF.

TEXTURED LUXURY • In this old Cape Town house filled with upcycled and salvaged furniture and fittings, the co-founder of a Swedish furniture chain finds priceless respite.

IN DREAMLAND • Your bedroom is the place you retreat to after a tiring day, to enjoy some well-earned rest. Make it your dreamland with these décor ideas.

STYLE WITH STAMPS • We left our mark on this colourful and happy bedroom by using various stamp techniques to give it an eclectic look.

BLOCK-PRINTED DUVET • We made our own stamp from foam rubber to create this tile-like block-print pattern on a plain duvet cover.

PRINTED ARTWORK

JUTE-FIBRE HEADBOARD

TEMPLATE • To create our tile pattern, we cut our symmetrical design into quarters and used just one quarter to repeat the pattern. You will need to keep this complete design in mind when stamping however, as to get the tile pattern right, you need to turn the stamp each time to join up with the previously stamped design section next to it.

DRESS YOUR BED • There are many ways to dress a bed but we like the ‘less is more’ approach. Dress your queen-sized bed in either of these two ways.

WOOLLY WARMTH • Hold the winter chill at bay with these striking wool projects for your home.

YOUR SCENT • By using pure essential oils you can create your very own signature perfume.

Snuggle up • Keep the winter blues away with these beautiful, colourful bedroom makes, plus a dolly to cuddle up with.

Knit a swonocho • Knit this beautiful swoncho, a combination of sweater and poncho, to keep looking good and feeling warm this winter.

SWEET ON CITRUS

CARROT COMFORT • This twist on the French classic is deliciously flavoursome with warm wintery spices and just the right combination of sweet and savoury. It is the perfect light lunch or side dish.

BREAK BREAD • These edible butter candles will enchant your guests while at the same time providing pretty lighting for the table.

CANDLE WITH SMOKED PAPRIKA

THE BLISS OF SOFT LIGHT • The scent of a candle, the hiss of a paraffin lamp. Nostalgia, but also a new reality. Soft light comforts and nurtures in the gloom, writes Martie Swanepoel.

COLLECT MEMORIES • Over the course of our lives most of us gather a household full of possessions, new or inherited. For Lizelle Tenten and her family, memories are their only collection.

THE WONDERS OF WATER • The future of health and good ageing is wild, hot, cold and blue!

CONNECTION IS KEY… • Keep your kids at home by really connecting with them while they are there. Here are some great ways of doing so, and they're not a bad idea for connecting with other adults either.
